Subject: Some "I will's" of Jesus, part 2

Introduction from part 1: People who make the statement, "I will", quite often "will not!"  It's not that they are necessarily intentionally lying, it's more of a case of saying things in a generalized sense.  "I will" needs a "qualifier" to be more accurate when it comes to people, such as, "I will be at your house by 8 P.M" should have a qualifier added like, "if traffic is not too heavy and my car doesn't break down."  Since very few people use such preciseness in their speech, it means we need to realize they may not do what they say they will.  We cannot take people's statements as "Gospel", meaning absolute fact.  We cannot stake our lives on them being able to accomplish what they say.  God, on the other hand, is absolutely trustworthy.  When HE says I will, you can just settle back and relax on that issue, because HE will!!!  His Word is the law, and cannot be broken.  In this and the other messages in this series, let's look at some of the things Jesus said HE will, and therefore, will do!

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. (John 14:18-19 (KJV)  The word translated "comfortless" literally means "orphans."  These 2 verses, in my mind, bring us all 3 persons of the God-head.  When HE said HE would not leave them as orphans, that means without a parent.  The Father is our parent, so we are not orphans,  Jesus, as the Son, was going to bodily leave them, but promised them HE would be present with them, as the Spirit.  This passage also gives us the seed for a Bill and Gloria Gaither song that has blessed and comforted millions since it was written.  (I've put the lyrics at the bottom of this message)  This promise of Jesus is assured as absolute, and is applied to us as His present day disciples and children.  We can be at peace in the midst of the storm, because what HE says HE will do, HE will do

And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. (John 16:22 (KJV)  We know that Jesus, as God Himself, always sees us, but this promise is of a bodily return.  Jesus will come back and set up His throne on earth for a thousand years, then HE will cast Death and Hell into the Lake of Fire, destroy the old heavens and earth, and make a new heavens and earth, where we will live with Him forever.  HE will come back, and we will rejoice with a never ending joy, which no one will be able to take away from us.  What HE says HE will do, HE will do!

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. (John 17:24 (KJV)  Jesus asked His Father to open His eternal Home to us.  The amazing, awesome, magnificent thing about that is, the Father said "Yes!  If that is what you will to be, I will grant it.  All that I have given you shall be with You forever and will behold Your glory."  It will be as Jesus willed it to be!  Hallelujah!!!

Because He Lives

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives.
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone!
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives
